ADA (Average Daily Attendance)

This is a value calculated out of PowerSchool that is reported to USOE. This value represents the number of days the student was present in our school, adjusted to a 180 day schedule (if the school has more or less than a 180 day schedule). The attendance will be prorated based on the course load of the student; students taking less than a full schedule get reduced attendance proportional to their membership share.

The calculation for the prorated ADA is:

ADM = ROUND(((days of enrollment) - (number of absences)) * (membership share) * (180 / (number of days in school calendar)))

NOTE: Park City has a 180 day schedule for all schools, so the last part of the equation (180/days in school calendar) is always 1.

This calculation is technically the aggregate attendance. This number is summed up across all students and then divided by 180 to come up with the average daily attendance for the school or district.

ADM (Average Daily Membership)

This is a value calculated out of PowerSchool that is reported to USOE. This value represents the number of school days that a student was enrolled in our school, adjusted to a 180 day schedule (if the school has more or less than a 180 day schedule). The membership will be prorated based on the course load of the student; students taking less than a full schedule get a reduced membership share.

The calculation for the prorated ADM is:

ADM = ROUND((days of enrollment) * (membership share) * (180 / (days in school calendar)))

NOTE: Park City has a 180 day schedule for all schools, so the last part of the equation (180/days in school calendar) is always 1.

This calculation is technically the aggregate membership. This number is summed up across all students and then divided by 180 to come up with the average daily membership for the school or district.

FTE (Full Time Equivalent)

Standard Fields: students.fteid AND reenrollments.fteid

This field is used to determine what attendance value a student will receive for a given day. Under Utah state rules, a student is considered present if she is marked present at any point during the day. PowerSchool looks specifically at the ps_adaadm_meeting_ptod view and counts the number of ZERO (0) values to determine attendance, so any value > 0 is considered present.

Membership Share

Standard Fields: students.membershipshare AND reenrollments.membershipshare

This field is used to track the percentage of course load that a student has. It is connected to the student's enrollment record, and should be updated when the course load changes (changed on a quarter or trimester basis).

This field directly effects the ADM (Average Daily Membership) and ADA (Average Daily Attendance) fields that are reported to USOE in the S1 record.

Parent Release Time

Parent release time (may be called Seminary or Religion Release) is a course in PowerSchool that is used as a placeholder for a period in a student's schedule where they will be off campus. By state rule a student will still be considered to be carrying a full schedule if they have no more than one parent release period in their schedule.

Students may have multiple parent release periods, but any in excess of the one allowed by the state will lower their membership share and will effect ADA and ADM.

Part-Time Home Schooled

Custom Field: students.parttimestudent

This custom field is a Utah state field that is used to help in determining mobility of a student.

SIF

Student Interoperability Framework. This is an XML specification used for the electronic transfer of student data.

SSID

State Student Identifier

USOE

Utah State Office of Education

UTREx

Computer system used to transmit data to USOE.
