This section will discuss how we track the various types of online courses that our students enroll in.
For students taking an online class that falls under the rules of SB65, we will need to do the following:
Grades will be entered manually at the end of each term.
The school that is providing the instruction will be sending in the correct Cactus ID and Course ID, so we don't have to worry about that. We do have to have the student enrolled in a course, however, as we need to claim that membership portion.
This created course name will be the name that will show up on the student's transcript, so it needs to reasonably match the subject being taught.
For students taking an online class from Utah Students Connect (USC), we will need to do the following:
Grades will need to be retrieved from the USC system each term. Grades will be forwarded to the appropriate school Registrar who will manually enter the grades into PowerSchool. Registrar should use the course number when entering grades so it shows up with the correct course name on the transcript. For example, use H090901USC for SOCS GEOGRAPHY FOR LIFE USC.
Note: USC Summer 2012 grades were manually entered into PowerSchool with “Utah Students Connect, Summer 2012” as the school name.
Any other online courses that we accept (BYU Online, Electronic HS, other private providers, etc.) will be manually tracked using the transfer credit process.
